Stephen has been in the entertainment business for over twenty-five years as an actor, writer, producer and director. He has performed in many theatres across the country including the prestigious Shaw Festival. Some of the numerous film and television works that he’s acted in include Affliction, Hollywoodland, The Rocker, The Dead Zone, Possible Worlds, Stardom, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, The Twighlight Zone, Blue Butterfly, Savage Messiah, IMAX:Ultimate G’s, X-Files, Wiseguy and Nuremberg.
He has been very fortunate to work with some of the most talented actors in the marketplace such as Nick Notle (twice), Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, John Turturro, George Clooney, Rob Lowe, Denzel Washington, David Duchovny, Rayne Wilson, Jane Lynch, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Patrick Dempsey, James Woods, Eric Roberts, Michael Madison, Robert LePage, Michael Cera, Emma Stone and William Hurt to name a few…
The filmmaker in him produced the feature film The Baby Formula, along with his good friend, Alison Reid. It received financial participation from Telefilm Canada. CBC has acquired broadcast rights. The Baby Formula has, so far, been in over fifty film festivals around the world. It opened the prestigious Mannheim Heidelberg Film Festival to a sold out audience of six hundred film goers. The Baby Formula had its theatrical release with Maple Pictures as the distributor. It recently aired on HBO.
He has written, produced, directed plays and several short films including the sci-fi short, Alien Reid, which aired on the SPACE station and Drive-In Classics. He co-produced the very popular short film Succubus with Alison Reid and James Mou that has also been seen in over fifty film festivals around the world.
Stephen, president of Dreamstate Productions, is in the process of writing and developing several feature film and TV projects. He’s received development monies from Telefilm Canada for a feature film that he wrote called Sissiboo and another script that he optioned called Plum Loco.
His community contributions include being the past President of ACTRA B.C. and a board member of the B.C.M.P.A. (British Columbia Motion Picture Association) and MAIN FILM, an indie co-op in Montreal, Quebec. He recently sat on the board of directors at LIFT, an independent filmmaker’s co-op in Toronto. Along with his current film projects, Stephen teaches/coaches actors, as well as directors working with actors across Canada. Stephen has studied the entertainment business and filmmaking screenwriting at UBC, George Brown College, MAIN FILM, The Summer Institute of Film and Television (SIFT) and UCLA.
Stephen resides in Vancouver and is working on projects that provoke thought and make a difference, in an entertaining way.
